What are Havening Techniques?

Havening Techniques are a radically new and evolving form of psycho-therapy that help permanently treat trauma, anxiety and phobias, as well as facilitate positive changes in our brains, improving well-being and resilience.

Havening Techniques are a type of psychosensory therapy, which means they utilize touch to evoke an (electrochemical) reaction that facilitates healing and positive changes in our minds (psyche).

Memories of past upsetting experiences often stay with us, leading to unwanted reactions and emotions when we’re exposed to similar situations. Regardless of whether or not we perceive an event as objectively threatening, our brains decide in a split second, whether or not to encode the memory as traumatic. In the process of encoding a traumatic memory, triggers are created. Triggers can later lead to the sudden onset of very primitive emotions like anger or fear or cause severe PTSD symptoms when stimulated. The triggers remain in place indefinitely, causing us to experience often irrational emotions again and again, as if the event were still taking place, even years or decades later. Once a memory is encoded as traumatic, no amount of rational thinking can reverse the results.

The founders of Havening Techniques Drs. Steven and Ronald Ruden, have found a way, with the help of sensory stimulation, to enable the reversal of the traumatic encoding of these memories in our neurology, so that they have no further emotional impact. Triggers and other accompanying symptoms are thus altered for the better or eliminated entirely.
